The Transformer Chief Learning Officer

Will continuous learning finally become strategic matter in organizations?

In the Harvard Business Review January-February 2020 issue, there is an inspiring and positive article on ‘The Transformer Chief Learning Officer’ (CLO). Key message: the need for organizations to become more adaptable means changing the goals of corporate learning. Organizations should cultivate every employee’s ability to explore, learn, and grow – not only to train people but also to position the company for success. The focus on learning enables business innovation and guarantees future fitness. The CLO should strive to reshape leadership development, concentrate on capabilities, cultivate curiosity and stimulate a growth mindset. The fast-changing nature of business today requires organizations to constantly enhance their capabilities and re-invent themselves. This presents an opportunity for CLOs to take on a more strategic role as transformers.
